Dear parents and students,

This week, we have celebrated Corde and Ian's Birthdays.
We played board games on Friday.

Here are the learning we've worked on this week:





French :
Spelling : sound an tests on Wednesday and Thursday.

Reading : We finished the "Reading challenge" with comics. The students were working in partners.
Toni Vange won the first place :) Congratulations Toni !

Grammar : We have been working on Nouns and verbs to be ready to start new concepts after the Winter break.


Math :
Calculation :
addition and subtractions reviews.
Geometry : Describe, reproduce and trace a right angle triangle Géom 5, Géom 6.
We have been doing a Math Challenge with the 3rd grade class.

Discovering the world :
Civics education : we learned about Native American people and had a special guest.

Dear parents and students,

This week, We have been working very well...
Here are the learning we've worked on this week:

French :
Spelling : sound é tests on Wednesday and Friday.
Reading / Writing: We began a "Reading challenge" with comics. The students are working in partners.
Writing : We are so far at mid-year (already ;) in second grade and started to work on our new "French notebook". The handwriting rules are more challenging but we are doing our best to write and we try to be careful.

Geometry : Describe, reproduce and trace a right angle triangle Geom 4.
Numeration : We have been practicing more about writing and saying a series of numbers by 10s and by 100s.

Discovering the world :

Computer Science : We are still having lot's of fun on "code" and we have learned the new block : "repeat until".
Art : We have been finishing a portrait like the artist Paul Klee.

Civics education : we learned about bacteria microbes and viruses.

Dear parents,

This week, we were doing the tests in French, Math and Discovering the world (science, history).

 

We also did rehearsals for the Winter performance.

Thanks to Carlos Pereira for his dedication on the dance !

 

In art, we finished our secret's trees. It's so beautiful !

 

In Computer science, we continued to work on "coding".

 

We also had a special gest this week : Santa Claus

Vocabulary : We have worked on looking for the definition of a word in the dictionary in collaborative learning.

Reading / Writing: We are almost finished with our comic Popotka and were writing the story of page 16 of the book. The students had to use most of the vocabulary they learned so far to write at least 9 sentences telling the story of this page.
Conjugation : We reviewed the lesson about "past, present and future" tense of a sentence. C1
Grammar : We worked about the verb. G4
Vocabulary : Begin using alphabetical order to look for the definition of a word in the dictionary.

Math :
Calculation : We continued working on "rounding to the nearest ten and hundred" with numbers up to 999.
We worked on subtracting with carrying. CALC 7. 
Numeration : We continued working on numbers up to 1,000 (place value, expanded form and written form).
US MATH : Solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.

Discovering the world :

History : Read a family tree and construction of their own.
Art : Finish the family tree.
Computer science : We had, today, the visit of Remi Thillier, a software engineer, who presented his job and what code is used for.
We presented the course we will follow to learn CODE : INTRO TO COMPUTER SCIENCE K-8th grade. Each child will use his credentials to work on this course.

Here are our learning events for this week.

French :
Spelling : We did the sound u tests on Wednesday and Friday.
Reading / writing: We continued working on writing new ends to Kolos
Reading journal : We have been working on our reading journal. The students had to talk about Kolos : if they liked or not the story, which part was funny and which part was a little scary.
Then, we talked about all the stories we have been reading about giants and ogres. They had to choose their favorite one and write sentences about this book.
Vocabulary : V1 : l'ordre alphabetique

We are finished with our first book. Next week, we will start the new book : Popotka le petit Sioux.
