Dear parents,

Here are the learning we've worked on last week : 

French :

Reading: We read the story "la coiffe magique" and the documentary about "les Sioux".
Grammar : You have made some reviews about G4 and G5
Vocabulary : We have worked on looking for the definition of a word in the dictionary in collaborative learning.

Math :
Calculation :
We reviewed subtracting with and without carrying.
Numeration : Reviews about : numbers up to 1,000 (place value, expanded form and written form, rounding).


Discovering the world :

Art : We finished "The tree of the secret".
History : we talked about the meaning of "thanksgiving".

Vocabulary:
-Know and use the vocabulary specific to reading.
Review Quizlet : Voc 9 to Voc 16 (do the TEST with no written)

Reading:
- Tell whom, who or what a text is about; find in the text or its illustration the answer to questions concerning the text; restate the meaning.
- Identify the characters, the events and the time and settings of a story.
 
Grammar:  G3, G4, G5
-Work with sentence structures and types: understand how to convert an affirmative sentence into an interrogative sentence.
-Identify according to their nature: verbs, nouns

Math:
Numbers : Num5 + Num6 + Rounding (arrondir) to the nearest 10 and 100
- Understand (know how to write and name) whole numbers up to 1000.
- Locate and place numbers on a straight line; compare them, put them in order, and organize them.
- Write or say a series of numbers by 2s, 5s, 10s and 100s.
 

Tuesday, December 2nd  

Reading : Unknown text : No reviews
- Silently read the wording of problems or instructions, understanding what action is expected.
- Silently read a text, deciphering unfamiliar words and showing understanding through summarizing, retelling and responding to questions.
- Show understanding of a story or a text read aloud by responding to questions about the text.

Math:
Calcul :Calc 3, Calc 4, Calc 5, Calc 6, Calc 7
- Calculate a horizontal series of mathematical operations.
- Understand and use addition (for numbers up to 1000) and subtraction (for numbers up to 100).
-Understand doubles and halves of commonly used numbers.
-Understand and use mental calculations to work out sums of equations.  
 

Wednesday, December 3rd   
Vocabulary : V2
-Begin using alphabetical order to look for the spelling or definition of a word in the dictionary.

Conjugaison : C1
-Understand the relationship between verb tenses (past, present, future) and the corresponding ideas (actions which have already happened, actions happening now, and actions which have not yet happened).

Math:
Problem solving: see the different problems in the blog
- Solve problems using addition and subtraction.
- Organize information given in a statement.
- Solve problems of customary.
 
Thursday, December 4th   

Science: (yellow notebook)
-Identify factors of melting and solidification of water.
-Use a thermometer to measure the temperature of water under different conditions.

History: (green notebook)
-Collect information from different calendars.
-Read a family tree.

Weekly letter #14

This week, I know you worked very well... I missed you.

Spelling : sound k tests on Wednesday and Friday.
Reading / Writing: You finished our comic Popotka.
Conjugation : You reviewed the lesson about "past, present and future" tense of a sentence. C1
Grammar : You have made some reviews about the verb G4 and did a new lesson about nouns and its article G5.
Vocabulary : Begin using alphabetical order to look for the definition of a word in the dictionary. V2

Math :
Calculation :

Numeration : numbers up to 1,000 (place value, expanded form and written form, rounding).
Addition and subtraction word problems : You have worked on collaborative learning resolving addition and subtraction word problems (work #9).

Discovering the world :

Art : "The tree of the secret". I don't know if you finished it. I hope it looks good :)
Civics education : I hope you enjoyed watching some videos about the flu and the importance to wash your hand.

Weekly letter #13

Dear Parents,

Here are our learning events for this week.

French :
Spelling : We did the sound T tests on Wednesday and Thursday.
Reading / Writing: We are almost finished with our comic Popotka and were writing the story of page 16 of the book. The students had to use most of the vocabulary they learned so far to write at least 9 sentences telling the story of this page.
Conjugation : We reviewed the lesson about "past, present and future" tense of a sentence. C1
Grammar : We worked about the verb. G4
Vocabulary : Begin using alphabetical order to look for the definition of a word in the dictionary.

Math :
Calculation : We continued working on "rounding to the nearest ten and hundred" with numbers up to 999.
We worked on subtracting with carrying. CALC 7
Numeration : We continued working on numbers up to 1,000 (place value, expanded form and written form).
US MATH : Solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.

Discovering the world :

History : Read a family tree and construction of their own.
Art : Finish the family tree.
Computer science : We had, today, the visit of Remi Thillier, a software engineer, who presented his job and what code is used for.
We presented the course we will follow to learn CODE : INTRO TO COMPUTER SCIENCE K-8th grade. Each child will use his credentials to work on this course.

Dear Parents,

Here are our learning events for this week.

French :
Spelling : We did the sound p tests on Wednesday and Thursday.
Reading / Writing: We continued to work on our comic Popotka and worked on writing the story of page 16 of the book. The students had to use most of the vocabulary they learned so far to write at least 9 sentences telling the story of this page.
Conjugation : We started our first lesson about "past, present and future" tense of a sentence. C1
